TLA (Theatre Led Arts) was established in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength. Keeping performance real, we strive to deliver industry leading training to all of our students and offer them great opportunities along the way! Whether they are coming to train to further enhance their careers, gain confidence, or just to make friends and have a great time, there is something for everyone at TLA.

100% LAMDA Success; EVERY student who has taken their LAMDA exam (Prestigious Acting Exams!) with us has attained a result higher than 60/100. In our latest round of results, one of our superstars achieved 94/100 for GOLD LAMDA and gained 30 UCAS points!

Winning not 1, not 2, but 10 Trophies at our last Street Dance Competition, we also are starting to compete at Contemporary level too!

Amazing performance opportunities ranging from performing at local festivals to professional work in national theatres from York all the way to the WEST END, and Blackpool Tower!

Last, but not least, our associated Agency – Wrap Management – endless opportunities to work, professionally, in TV and Film. You can also study TV & Film with us in our Screen class and the exciting opportunities we have including film festivals and social media virals.

Tiny Little Actors Drama & Musical Theatre

Tiny Little Actors is a class for very young children to come along with their parents or guardians and take part in a small group session. Incorporating dancing, singing and acting, with the use of story telling, sounds, lights and costumes, your little ones will socialise and have fun whilst developing sensory techniques and enhancing their coordination in their early stages. They learn drama, dancing and singing through exploration, games and exercises designed to enhance imagination, creativity and fine motor skills. Juniors Drama & Musical Theatre

The Junior class is the first stage of drama and musical theatre training. Aimed at youngsters who either want to follow drama and musical theatre as a career or just come along and have a great time whilst making friends, this class forms the the foundations of their training and allows them to grow and develop at their own pace. Exciting, engaging and inclusive, our junior class is fun for all and a great way to improve confidence, hone skills and learn basic techniques.

Intermediates Drama & Musical Theatre

The intermediates class is the second stage of drama and musical theatre training. In this class, they learn to apply what they have learnt and begin to form ideas and integrate different concepts to create their work. They still have great fun and make friends, but they also train hard, learn loads and really start to understand the different things they learn each week. No prior training is required to be part of the intermediates... all we ask is that you want to have fun and love acting and or singing and dancing!

Seniors Drama & Musical Theatre

The seniors class is the third stage of drama and musical theatre training - here most of the students are preparing for the Graduates class. In seniors they apply technique, create ideas with integrated concepts and build on their skill set. They undertake small independent projects in class and explore their own interests within the performing arts. Many seniors train with the hope of furthering their career, but there are others who come due to the friendly, welcoming and great fun environment. No prior training is required to be part of the Seniors... all we ask is that you want to have fun and love acting and or singing and dancing!

TLA Graduates Drama & Screen

TLA Graduates are the top of the school. These students are seriously passionate about performing arts and have a two hour intensive class. They take on self directed projects, polish their skills, and push themselves to explore new avenues, challenge their thinking and break down barriers. They receive excellent training from professionals and they develop not only their drama skills but they continue to grow as young adults. Many of our graduates go on to top drama schools with our most recent leavers securing places at schools in London and Liverpool!

TLA Graduates Broadway (Musical Theatre)

Broadway is the top class of TLA for Dance. Here they train for an hour in drama then attend the hour long session in Dance. These dancers are passionate about their art and hope to pursue it as a career. They learn complex routines, continually develop their existing techniques, increase flexibility and continually raise standards. Many of the Broadway dancers are part of the Show Team and they pride themselves on being the best at what they do!

Ballet

With the successful introduction of Ballet at TLA, our marvellous Megan teaches this beautiful and ancient art form to her students, every Friday in term time, here at CALSA. Acro

Acro is a combination of gymnastics and dance, taught by our qualified Acro teacher, Megan, Acro is perfect for anyone who wishes to improve flexibility, core strength and learn new skills, whilst still having a great time, making friends and having fun.

Contemporary Dance

Contemporary class is currently available to sign up to now! Learning Contemporary Dance is a exploratory dance style that combines strength, flexibility and power together with a feeling that evokes a passion for dance unlike any other. Contemporary Dance provides core strength training, gives discipline and focuses the young performer. Megan, our Contemporary Dance teacher, captures each students imagination as she teaches her choreography, drawing on each individuals strengths and skills and helps them over come any obstacles they may face.

LAMDA

LAMDA is offered at TLA for students who wish to gain qualifications in Drama. Taught by professionals, LAMDA is offered on a 1 to 1 basis and is a very popular at TLA. With a 100% pass rate, the students train hard and continue to develop their drama knowledge, whilst receiving recognised qualifications, that at a certain level, accumulate UCAS points. To book your LAMDA lessons, please see Lisa, Head of LAMDA or Jen, Principal on a Saturday before or after your normal lessons. Private Dance

Private, 1 to 1 dance lessons are offered throughout the day at TLA. With a range of styles to choose from, including Ballet, Contemporary, Street and Musical Theatre - you're sure to find something that suits your level and ability and focuses your training. Meet the Team

Tonicha-Dobre

Tonicha Jeronimo

Principle

Tonicha started the company back in 2008 having carved a television career in ‘Emmerdale’ and touring the UK in REP theatre and musicals. More recently she returned to the small screen in ‘Casualty’ and ‘Holby City’ as the tremulous ‘Steph Simms’. She is an advocate for realism in acting and develops the older members of the academy preparing them for drama schools both home and abroad. Tonicha’s ‘Screen’ class is particularly popular with all ages.

Jennifer-Whittaker

Jennifer Whittaker

Principle

Jennifer began her career on the stage at 11 and has since toured nationally, performing on London’s West End; at The Bradford Alhambra; The Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough and many other UK wide venues. Jennifer’s passion for teaching was her driving force behind gaining her degree qualifications in Business Management and Musical Theatre, as well as LAMDA, LCMM and BBO – all prestigious awarding bodies for the arts. She is the director of LAMDA (acting and musical theatre examining board) at TLA and develops the younger students in the school teaching the many needed skills and techniques to progress.
